What Can Chris Do For You?
About Chris
Chris Dold is a Chinese-American editor and artist based in Los Angeles. Growing up in Maryland, he fell in love with movies and bold formalist storytelling at an early age, recreating blockbusters at home with self-taught visual effects skills. After graduating from goofy backyard movies with friends, he studied at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, concentrating in editing and sound design. While there, he won the 2016 A.C.E. Student Editing Competition and was awarded an Eddie Award by J.J. Abrams.
During his days as an editorial PA on projects like Hotel Artemis, others took note of his passion for VFX and how it enhanced the editorial process. Speaking to Vanity Fair, director Drew Pearce lauded that Chris “with After Effects could do things onscreen that like twenty years ago you wouldn’t even get in a blockbuster.” Since then he has worked on projects for Blumhouse, Sony, and most recently Apple TV; The Morning Show and the upcoming series Smoke, which he received an additional editor credit on.
